Clelia and Fabian are one of the unfortunate couples who had to postpone their wedding due to the pandemic. And my heart truly bled for them. Not only because their wedding day was so beautifully planned and in an amazing location but because I’ve known the two for a few years and was looking forward to them getting married and being a part of their wedding.
Clelia grew up in the southern part of Switzerland, the Ticino. For those of you who don’t know: Switzerland has four official languages. German, French, Italian and Romansh. Ticino is the canton where Italian is spoken - and where you truly feel like you’re in Italy. There’s palm trees, usually better weather than in the rest of Switzerland and generally a more relaxed way of life. And that’s where they decided on getting married. Funnily enough in a small town that I also know well because we visit it multiple times a year. So it was easy for me to know their venue, decide on spots to take pictures and generally to help them plan.
And then Covid came.
The Ticino - bordering Italy - was hit the hardest and it was clear pretty quickly that Clelia and Fabian’s wedding couldn’t happen as planned. In the end, they decided to postpone for an indefinite amount of time. Which in hindsight was the best decision as they couldn’t have celebrated anyways. They did still go through with their civil wedding in the northern part of Switzerland with just their witnesses and them but the big party had to wait.
So when I had the chance to test the new Canon R 6 for a day, I spontaneously asked them if they would be willing to model for me and at least get a few couples photos in 2020 since it hadn’t worked out with their wedding pictures. And thanks to their spontaneity we met up just one day later in Baden and made sure Clelia and Fabian had a fun way to end this strange year.
Thank you guys so much for your trust in me and for modeling at such short notice!
