When most people think of Switzerland, they think of romantic villages with wooden houses, sparkling blue lakes and beautiful mountains. While all of this is true and can be found in Switzerland, there’s also urban centers like Zurich, for example. And they’re at least as nice as our picture-perfect-Heidi-Switzerland!
I am a city-lover at heart and while I do love hiking and spending time in the mountains there’s just something about cities that has always fascinated me. I love skyscrapers, the hustle and bustle of big cities, the noises, the people, the rush, the diversity. Although Zurich sports many of those things, skyscrapers are not one of those. Due to strict Swiss building standards there’s not many high buildings here which makes the the Prime Tower in Zurich, once Switzerland’s highest building, stand out even more.
On the top floor of the Prime Tower you can find the restaurant Clouds which is also used as an official venue for civil ceremonies. And that’s where Silke and Holger decided to get married. So even though we didn’t have much time for our couple’s shoot and even had to shoo away a film crew to get the spot on top of the parking garage for some rad shots, I insisted on taking some photos with this iconic backdrop of their venue for them.
Silke and Holger were real troopers and despite being short on time and also having never met me before they managed to seem absolutely relaxed on the photos. We followed our shoot with the civil ceremony with a breathtaking view ofer Zurich and a short reception afterwards at the restaurant Viadukt, another beautiful urban venue where everyone celebrated the newlyweds.
