Like every year, I like to take the end of the year to look back at all the wonderful couples I got to photograph this year and reflect on the amazing memories we made together. This year was definitely a special one, with masks being worn, with civil weddings where the couple wasn’t even allowed to share a kiss but also with so much love and happiness all around that almost made us forget the current situation.
I have asked my couples to share their favorit e image with me and added a few of my own so you’ll get an overview of all the things I got to experience this year.
One of my personal highlights was not a wedding, but a shoot that we had planned in April and finally got to do in September! As you might know, Switzerland voted on the legalization of same-sex-marriage in September. Yes, you read that right: As one of the last western countries, same-sex-couples still couldn’t get married in Switzerland in 2021! So two friends of mine and I planned a shoot to show that LOVE IS LOVE. And then we had to postpone it four times due to the terrible weather conditions in the mountains. But we prevailed an on the last possible day we set for the shoot we decided to go for it. Our intended location showed rain throughout the day so we just picked a random different spot - AND IT COULDN’T HAVE BEEN BETTER. I put a rush on the photos and we blasted our Social Media outlets wiht the images to get more people to vote YES. And honestly, even I was surprised by the outcome: A whopping 64.1% of Swiss citizens voted to finally take a step out of the middle ages and legalize same-sex marriages. So, come July 1st 2022 even more people can get married to the love of their life!
I could tell so many more tales of this year. Of the week where I booked two weddings that happened same week, of the whopper of a 15-hour-wedding that I loved every second of, of the super-cute pups I got to meet to tales of the dreamy finale in October where everything just fit together perfectly. But I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. Enjoy.
And to all my couples: YOU ROCK! Thank you for letting me share the photos of your special day with the world.
