Summer engagement shoot with labrador pup
If you’ve followed me or my work you know that next to weddings, travel and my husband, my heart beats for one more thing: Dogs. Whenever I see a dog I can’t help myself and have to approach the owner to ask if I can pet the pup. My camera roll on my phone is full of stranger’s dogs and the videos my friends tag me in consist of mostly alpaca- and dog-content.
So when I first talked to Rahel and Peter via Videocall and saw a furball in the background of course I couldn’t help myself and asked to meet the pup. And when they showed me Nash, my heart melted. He’s the sweetest lab and was so excited during the initial phone call that I couldn’t wait to meet him and his owners for our shoot.
We picked a beautiful sunny day for Rahel and Peter’s engagement shoot in Baden and made sure it was in a dog-friendly area where we could also tie Nash to a tree next to us for a few minutes. Because although he is a big part of their lives, there should also be a possibility of taking pictures of just the two of them. After all, an engagement-shoot should also be kind of a “dry-run” for your wedding photos: The shoot helps me see how a couple interacts, how much PDA they’re comfortable with and it shows them how I work. I didn’t have to worry with Rahel and Peter, though, as they were both absolutely relaxed and simply enjoyed their time together.
And Nash was such a good boy during the shoot that we gave him a few treats and lots of snuggles afterwards.
Now I can’t wait for their wedding next year! Let’s see if Nash might even get the role of ring-bearer. I’d be 100% here for it!
